This Irish Open Accommodation, Millbank Cottage, is a Northern Ireland Tourist Board approved property located on a farm in the stunning Mourne Mountains, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). For those attending the Irish Open 2024 the cottage is perfectly located being just under 3 miles from Royal County Down Golf Club.
As well as mountains there is so much to enjoy right on our doorstep: Murlough National Nature Reserve with its’ two mile long golden beach, Tollymore Forest Park and Castlewellan Forest Park, both with excellent walking and cycling trails, Dundrum Castle, dating back to the 1100’s, country estates, award winning restaurants, and much much more! The cottage is located on an elevated site in a tranquil setting with stunning views of the Mourne Mountains and Slieve Croob, accessed by a private drive approximately 450m off the main road and 600m from the village of Maghera.
Irish Open Accommodation sleeping up to six with three bedrooms, one with a king size double bed, one with twin beds and an en suite bathroom and walk in dressing room and one with a small double bed. Both the main bathroom and the en suite have walk in rain showers. We have sought to equip the cottage to a high standard and to anticipate your needs by providing all the things you might want for a luxurious stay. Hair dryer, bedding and towels are provided as standard and a washing machine and tumble drier are available so that you don’t have to worry about luggage restrictions. The cottage was built in 2019 and has underfloor heating throughout with individual temperature control in each room. There are also two wood burning stoves, one in the lounge and one in the sunroom. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with all you will need and is ideal for any chef to demonstrate their skills! The oak furniture in the kitchen includes an extendable table that can seat up to eight people. There is a garage for storage of outdoor gear, golf clubs, bikes etc. Outside there is a large patio with stunning views of the Mourne Mountains to the west and Slieve Croob to the north. Garden furniture and BBQ equipment are provided.

The cottage is fitted with a Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR) system. This operates continually, providing fresh external air throughout the house whilst extracting stale air on a continuous basis. The air coming in is heated by the warm air being extracted.
